KitchenAid Digital Handmixer 7-Speed Review

KitchenAid Handmixer

Can this replace your stand mixer?

Not everyone has or wants a stand mixer. That’s where a hand mixer can come in handy. While most hand mixers can’t quite do everything that a stand mixer can do, as long as you’re not into making bread you should be able to do just about everything else with a hand mixer. Again, I didn’t buy this mixer, but I have used it plenty of times and know how it performs.

Purchase Info:

At the time of this review, this mixer can be found for about $100 on amazon. I’m not sure how much the one I have was purchased for.

Build Quality:

I have no complaints about the build quality. It is nicely weighted and stand up on its side easily. It only begins to tip over if the beaters are filled with a thick batter. It feels like something that could easily last 10 or more years if cared for properly. I will say that the cord is nice and thick, but is a little more stiff than I would like, which can get in the way at times. The beaters that come with it are well made, too. They are very solid and show no signs of wear in the few years we’ve had it. The whisk is also pretty good and gets the job done. All together, I would say that the build quality is very good and I wouldn’t complain for the price. It deserves a 9/10 here.

Functionality and Performance:

I have no complaints here, either. With 7 speeds, I’ve never run into a situation where I felt I needed more or less power than what this mixer was capable of. Of course, I’ve never tried to make anything super thick, like a bread dough. However, I’ve tackled some fairly thick cookie doughs and even sausage mixes and it never gets bogged down. I’m honestly impressed. Ergonomics are ok and the controls are straight forward with an on switch and buttons to control the speed. Holding the mixer for extended periods might make your hand tired, but I wouldn’t expect much else in this price range. Its not too noisy by my ear, either. I think this is a solid package.

Is it Necessary?:

No, anything you can use a hand mixer with you can use a spoon or whisk with. But this would definitely make it easier and faster.

Do I recommend it?:

Yes. I think that for the price, there’s not much to complain about. It’ll handle just about everything you would throw at it within reason.

Overall Rating: 9/10

Like I said, if you’re not making bread very often, this mixer could be the only mixer you’d ever need or want. The only knock against it really would be the ergonomics, which I think could be improved for not too much more money. This is just one of those reliable appliances that does what you want with no fuss or frills.
