The Best Homemade Lemonade Analysis
Here’s another recipe claiming to be the best, let’s see how close they come
Time:20 Minutes
Difficulty: 1/5
Ingredient Availability: 5/5
Who doesn’t like lemonade? It’s easy to make and refreshing to drink. The reason why I made this is that I’ve used a few recipes recently calling for just the zest or strips of the peel of lemons and oranges and I didn’t want the rest to go to waste. So, instead of just using lemon juice in this recipe, I added the juice of an orange.
Key Ingredients and Omissions:
No ingredients were skipped, but an orange was added.
Tools:
Pitcher
Cooking Review:
Squeezing Fruit: 8 Minutes
Before anything else, I squeezed 2 lemons and an orange into a bowl over a strainer.
Making simple syrup: 8 minutes
To make the syrup, I added the sugar and water to a pot and warmed it until all the sugar had dissolved. I didn’t bring it to a simmer, just took it off of the heat once there were no more sugar granules visible.
Mixing: 3 Minutes
I added the syrup, citrus juices, and 6 cups of water to a pitcher. Adding the water mixed everything thoroughly, so I didn’t have to stir it before putting into the refrigerator.
Analysis:
The flavors here are pretty light. It doesn’t punch you in the face with lemon or orange flavor, but both are noticeable. It’s not too sweet. I honestly think the sweetness is perfect and the balance of flavors is pretty good given the level of sweetness. There’s not much more to say. As far as lemonades go, I would give this one a 8/10. It is truly refreshing and doesn’t make you feel guilty for drinking it, but it definitely could be even better.
